[:en]Reaching modern people living in towns and cities with the Gospel message is difficult, especially difficult is turning their attention to the eternal values, and helping them to find true happiness and joy in union with Christ. These and other issues of the mission of the Church on the territory of ESD were discussed during the Consultative Council of Sabbath School (SS) and Personal Ministries (PM) departments of West Russian Union (WRU). This meeting was organized by Vasily Murga, SS and PM director of the Union and was held from November 20 to 21, 2012, in Zaoksky.
At the beginning of the meeting Yuri Drumi, president of Zaoksky Adventist University, addressed all participants. In his speech, he implored his audience to teach people moral and spiritual values  and shared his personal experience of conversion, in which the Sabbath school played a key role.

V. Kotov, director of SS and PM for the Euro-Asia Division presented two basic themes of the meeting: training church members how to witness for Christ under the program of University of Revival and Gospel Ministry (URGM), and a new initiative, the program “Optimization of Sabbath School in ESD.” The delegates of the meeting were presented the main components of this new program: training of Sabbath school teachers; new teaching materials (video, printed, electronic); a number of regularly scheduled activities to promote better organization and work of the Sabbath school (Sabbath school leaders conferences, Sabbath school teachers congresses, etc.). Most of the meeting was centered on the practical implementation of these initiatives in the ESD churches.

The organization of the Council, prayerful spirit, and the very atmosphere of the meeting encouraged the participants to openly shared their needs, problems and prospects of the gospel work and Sabbath School activities. This is evidenced by their responses:

A.M. Kovalev, (Volga-Vyatka Association of WRU): “The good news is that there are specific goals, objectives, materials, and programs that will be realized in our territories.”

S.V. Komarnicki (Moscow Association of WRU): “I was inspired by the program “Optimization of Sabbath School in ESD”, as it responds to the challenge our Church faces today – improving the quality and standards of the Sabbath school.”

R.N. Kiselev (Southern Association of WRU): “I was gladdened with the atmosphere of the meeting, the spirit of openness and interest in advancing the cause of God. At this meeting I saw a determination to “sow” even with “tears” so that, even if not in the very near future, we will enjoy the harvest.”

A.G. Dementiev (Priokskoye Association of WRU): “This is one of the best consultative meetings, as it provides inspiration for ministry. It differs in that many problems, experiences, achievements were discussed openly, and there was understanding that not everything goes the way it should. I liked the new ideas and thoughts on how to improve the training of church members under the program of URGM and Sabbath school.”

Various issues of organization and activities of the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries departments and their contribution to the overall strategy of the Church in ESD were discussed in an active way with deep interest and involvement of each participant of the meeting. The outcome of the meeting was a resolution for pastors and different churches of WRU associations, which reflects the goal of all initiatives of Sabbath school and Personal Ministries departments – to contribute to building the SDA church up in ESD and to implement its mission.
